The KEB 15.F5.A1E-L5DA is an axis drive from the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series and is equipped with a standard control board and surface protection by varnish. It offers a maximum motor power of 15 HP at 230V, includes a braking transistor, and features an LCD operator interface with Serial and CAN capabilities. The drive uses TTL incremental encoder interfaces with D-Sub 15-pole and 9-pole connectors and has a switching frequency of 4 kHz.
Internal Product Review
The 15.F5.A1E-L5DA is a KEB F5 Combivert axis drive built for precise motor control up to 15 HP with a 4 kHz switching frequency. Incremental In/Out encoder support with TTL signaling gives the unit clean feedback handling and straightforward integration with established motion systems. A built-in braking transistor and 150% max short-time current make the package especially capable during dynamic axis operation.

Product Description:
The 15.F5.A1E-L5DA axis inverter is produced by KEB within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency mains power into a variable output that controls torque and speed for a single servo or induction motor in applications such as gantries, packaging lines, and indexing tables. By combining power electronics, feedback handling, and drive logic in one housing, the device delivers closed-loop motion control without additional regulators.
Internally, the drive carries a Standard Board that supplies control logic and I/O channels for speed, torque, and diagnostics. Heat is removed through the standard cooling arrangement, allowing operation while the inverter switches the DC link at a frequency of 4 kHz. Motor position data enter through the primary feedback port, which uses a D-Sub 15-pole connector. This socket accommodates incremental encoders operating with a TTL signal level and supports incremental input and output processing, so the drive can pass position data downstream. During acceleration, current can rise to 150% of the continuous rating for short intervals. The inverter has size code 15 and housing form factor E, corresponding to a mechanical envelope matched to motors rated up to 15 HP at 230 V.
To protect the power stage, the overcurrent trip activates at 180% of the nominal rating, disconnecting the motor before semiconductor damage occurs. The front panel is an LCD operator with Serial/CAN and a peak output feature; it allows parameter entry, fault review, and remote configuration without external tools. Dynamic braking energy is processed by the built-in braking transistor, eliminating the need for a separate chopper module in high-inertia axes. External surfaces have a varnished finish that resists humidity and airborne contaminants. A secondary encoder port with a D-Sub 9-pole connector can be configured as an output for follower drives. This secondary connection makes the D configuration suitable for multi-axis installations that require position data to be shared between drives.
