Product Description:
The 15.F5.A1E-35EA is an axis drive module manufactured by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Designed to regulate three-phase induction or servo motors in automated machinery, the unit forms the interface between a motion controller and the motor power stage. By generating variable-voltage and variable-frequency output, it allows precise speed and torque adjustment to match process demands in packaging, material-handling, and general factory automation. Its control architecture supports applications that require coordinated movement and responsive regulation under changing mechanical loads.
The power stage operates from a three-phase 400 V AC/DC supply and supports up to 15 HP of motor power; this rating also applies to the 230 V Unit B variant. The control section processes a new speed or torque command every 250 µs, helping dynamic axes remain synchronized with external PLC cycles. For feedback, the drive accepts a resolver signal and an incremental encoder output. Two analog inputs use a 12-bit converter to capture reference voltages, while two 10-bit analog outputs return measured values. The standard control board also provides 8 digital inputs for machine commands and status signals. A 24 V auxiliary rail supplies up to 100 mA for external sensors, and the combined transistor output current for control signals is limited to 50 mA DC.
The drive tolerates momentary overloads of up to 150% of rated current and initiates a protective trip at 180% of rated current to protect the IGBT power stage. Power switching occurs at 4 kHz, balancing motor response with switching losses and acoustic performance. An internal GTR7 braking chopper, supported by a factory-installed braking transistor, dissipates excess DC-bus energy during rapid stops. Heat is removed through the standard cooling path, while varnish protects exposed surfaces. The E-form housing measures 130 × 290 × 208 mm, and inverter size code 15 aligns the enclosure with compatible KEB mounting patterns. Clearance around the casing permits orderly routing of motor leads and shielded control cables without violating the required cable-bending radius.
