KEB's 14.F5.MBE-3AEA is an axis inverter from the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It uses inverter size code 14 and housing form factor E, matching the mechanical layout used across the F5 platform. A multi-control platform lets the unit manage speed, torque, or position loops without external hardware, and passive heat sink cooling removes semiconductor losses. Its control structure allows one compact drive to cover axes that need velocity regulation during transport and positioning control during indexing. When supplied from a 400 V line or from a 230 V system in Unit B configuration, it can operate induction or synchronous motors up to 10 HP in conveyor, packaging, and general automation applications that require compact vector control.
For continuous duty, the drive uses a 3-Phase 400 VAC/DC input supply and draws a nominal 23 A of input current. Internally, it delivers a regulated output current of 16.5 A and provides a steady-state apparent power rating of 11 kVA at the motor terminals. This output capacity suits medium-duty axes that need consistent torque during acceleration, conveying, or synchronized machine motion. Protective circuitry trips at 35.6 A, while short process peaks of 29.7 A are allowed without interrupting operation. A 25 A main fuse is recommended on the supply side to protect the installation.
Dynamic braking is supported by a maximum regenerative channel current of 32 A, and returned energy can be routed into an external resistor of no less than 25 Ω to protect the brake chopper. The power stage switches at 8 kHz, which balances output waveform control with switching losses during normal operation. Under full load, the heat sink may reach 90 °C and release up to 320 W of heat. The regenerative path is useful on axes with frequent starts and decelerations. Motor cable length can reach 100 m when installation practices maintain EMC performance and acceptable voltage drop.
