Product Description:
The 14.F5.M1E-3ADD is an AC axis drive produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It regulates induction motor speed and torque in automated machines, making it a core component in material-handling lines, winding systems, and coordinated multi-axis cells. By converting fixed mains power into a variable output that tracks setpoints from a PLC, the drive closes the loop between motion commands and motor performance. This control arrangement allows the output frequency and voltage to respond continuously to changing operating demands.
This model employs closed-loop field-oriented control, so current vectors are synchronized with the rotor field to maintain dynamic torque accuracy. It supports motors rated up to 10 HP at 400 VAC and provides the same motor rating when operated at 230 VAC through the dedicated Unit B configuration. Rotor position is read through an incremental TTL interface on a Sub-D connector, allowing high-resolution feedback without resolver hardware. A built-in braking transistor dissipates regenerative energy during rapid deceleration, eliminating the need for an external brake chopper in most midrange applications. The local HMI consists of an LCD operator with serial and CAN links and a peak-output display. This interface allows momentary overloads to be observed while drive parameters are adjusted.
The drive uses size code 14, which corresponds to its heat sink area, terminal pitch, and cabinet depth within the Combivert platform. Its housing has form factor E, providing a vertical airflow pattern suited to narrow enclosures. Control boards provide a TTL auxiliary output that mirrors the encoder count for downstream counters or compatible safety relays. The electronics use hardware version D, which includes an expanded I/O map for closed-loop induction motor control and optional synchronous motor modes. The vertical housing arrangement directs cooling air along the heat sink while preserving access to the power and control terminals. Encoder signals can also be forwarded to connected equipment without requiring a separate feedback splitter.
