The 14.F5.M1D-38GA is an axis inverter manufactured by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It applies closed-loop regulation to three-phase asynchronous motors, converting fixed mains power into a variable output that keeps rotor flux aligned with commanded speed and torque. Integrated feedback channels allow the drive to monitor motor operation during changing loads, while an internal braking transistor supports controlled dynamic deceleration. The compact D-class housing and size code 14 allow the inverter to fit standard control cabinets in automated production lines.
The inverter is powered by a three-phase 400 V supply and delivers a continuous phase current of 16.5 A. For short overloads, it can reach a peak current of 29.7 A, allowing acceleration of heavy inertial loads without exceeding the stated short-term current capacity. The IGBT bridge operates at a base switching frequency of 2 kHz, balancing thermal stress and acoustic output. The control kernel uses a field-oriented control algorithm that separates the torque-producing and magnetizing current components in the motor. One analog input, one analog output, five digital inputs, two digital outputs, and two encoder channels accommodate process sensors, command signals, and motor feedback devices. Relay signaling is provided by a single Form C contact for ready or fault status.
When an application requires quieter operation or finer current resolution, the switching frequency can be raised to a maximum of 16 kHz. The control board refreshes all inputs and outputs every 1 ms, maintaining responsive control for positioning, tension control, and other applications with rapidly changing commands. The five digital inputs permit start, stop, jog, and logic-level mode selection without requiring network communication. The analog monitor, digital outputs, and relay contact transmit operating states to a higher-level controller, while the encoder channels help the drive maintain accurate speed regulation during load transients. For connected motors, the inverter supports mechanical output up to 10 HP, making it suitable for pumps, conveyors, and smaller extruders.
