The 14.F5.B1E-150A is an AC axis drive from KEB that belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It functions as a variable-frequency inverter for controlling three-phase induction or synchronous motors in production machinery, conveyors, and process equipment. The drive houses its power electronics in an IP20-rated enclosure and uses housing form factor code E, so it is intended for installation inside a ventilated cabinet. This arrangement keeps the power section separated from the machine motor while allowing controlled speed and torque regulation during operation. Because it is an axis drive rather than a self-contained motor unit, it relies on a separate motor and proper cabinet airflow for normal service.
This model is supplied for three-phase mains at 230 V AC and draws a nominal input of 43 A, delivering 33 A to the motor while producing 13 kVA of apparent power. A rated switching frequency of 4 kHz is factory set for standard operation, yet the unit can pulse up to 16 kHz when lower acoustic noise is needed. Internally, inverter size code 14 provides the silicon area and bus capacitance needed for this drive class. The installed braking transistor works with external resistors so regenerated energy is dissipated outside the inverter instead of being returned to the supply. The current sent into a braking resistor must stay at or below 25 A, and the resistor value cannot be lower than 16 Ω. Continuous thermal service is limited by a heat-sink temperature ceiling of 90 °C, while the drive supports constant-torque motor operation in this voltage class. Cable lengths up to 100 m are supported within the drive-to-motor impedance range, and the cabinet should remain clean and well ventilated to protect the control electronics. The control logic monitors operating conditions so the power stage stays within its intended thermal and electrical range.
