Product Description:
The 13.F5.CBE-160A is an AC axis drive module produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. In industrial automation, it acts as the programmable link between a fixed mains supply and a motor, delivering the variable voltage and frequency required for precise speed, direction, and torque commands. By replacing mechanical throttling devices, the drive optimizes energy use and cycle times on conveyors, winders, and point-to-point positioning axes. Its programmable operation allows motor behavior to be adjusted for the movement requirements of each application without relying on mechanical speed controls.
The unit accepts a three-phase mains feed with three input phases and can energize motors rated up to 7.5 HP, including when the inverter is wired for 230 V service as unit B. The output frequency is adjustable from 0 to 599 Hz, providing crawl speeds for setup as well as oversynchronous operation for process acceleration. Its housing, identified by form factor code E, fits standard control cabinets and carries an IP20 protection rating that prevents accidental contact with live conductors. Continuous operation is supported within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 45 °C. Above this range, load derating is required to protect the semiconductor components from excessive thermal stress.
Thermal management is limited by a maximum heat sink temperature of 90 °C, so enclosure ventilation must keep the rear fin stack below this value during full-load events. The input bridge synchronizes with utility grids operating at 50/60 Hz with a tolerance of ±2%, allowing the same unit to operate on common regional power systems. When de-energized, the drive can be stored at temperatures from -25 to 70 °C without degrading the service life of its electrolytic capacitors. Within the product family, this model uses inverter size code 13. This code establishes the applicable frame height, terminal pitch, and permissible conductor cross-section for installation.
