The 13.F5.A1D-39EA is an axis inverter drive manufactured by KEB and supplied within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It is intended to regulate induction or synchronous motors in automated machinery by converting fixed-frequency mains power or a DC bus into a variable output that follows speed or torque commands from the control system. This makes it suitable for motion applications that require controlled acceleration, deceleration, and stable motor response. It can therefore be used in axes where repeatable speed regulation or torque control is needed during automated cycles.
This drive operates from a supply in the 400 V AC/DC class and is wired to a three-phase line, so it fits European and comparable industrial power grids. During normal duty, the power section delivers a continuous motor line current of 12 A, and insulated-gate transistors switch that current at carrier frequencies up to 16 kHz, although 4 kHz is the nominal switching rate for continuous service. Short process peaks can draw as much as 21.6 A without violating thermal limits, and the built-in braking transistor diverts regenerated energy to an external resistor when the motor decelerates. The inverter has a size code of 13 and measures 90 mm wide, 250 mm high, and 181 mm deep, so it fits densely inside a panel.
For brief overloads, the power stage tolerates a current of 200% of its rated value, with the overcurrent trip activating at 240% to protect semiconductors and cabling. Ground-fault monitoring and short-circuit monitoring remain active at all times, and the enclosure is rated IP20, which means it has finger-safe ventilation openings but no protection against liquid ingress. The standard control board provides parameter access, while an incremental encoder interface with input and I/O channels supports closed-loop speed or position control. The drive is sized for motors up to 7.5 HP at 400 V, and it also carries the same horsepower limit for 230 V Unit B ratings in the same product class.
