Product Description:
The 13.F5.CBD-390A is an axis drive manufactured by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. This variable-speed inverter processes incoming AC power and supplies a synchronous or induction motor with controlled frequency and voltage, enabling closed-loop motion control in production lines, packaging machines, and conveyor systems. By combining power electronics with integrated I/O, the drive forms the interface between plant controllers and the mechanical axis it propels. Its control architecture supports regulated motor speed and torque while coordinating the electrical output with commands from the connected automation system.
The drive operates from a 400 V source with a three-phase supply. Under continuous duty, the output is limited to a rated current of 12 A, while short-term overloads can reach a maximum of 25.9 A to accelerate inertia or counter transient loads. Pulse-width modulation operates at a rated switching frequency of 4 kHz, but the control logic can increase it to 16 kHz when quieter motor operation is required. Inverter size code 13 corresponds to the frame and heat sink dimensions, and an internal braking channel dissipates regenerated energy. The drive supports a maximum motor output of 7.5 HP. The same output limit applies to a 230 V Unit B motor when that lower operating voltage is used.
Control integration is handled through eight digital inputs, two relay outputs, and two transistor outputs. The analog section provides two inputs sampled at 12-bit resolution and two outputs generated at 11-bit resolution. Fieldbus polling and internal regulation are synchronized by an I/O scan time of 2 ms, allowing the drive to react quickly to step changes in speed or torque commands. A braking chopper of type GTR7 is connected to the DC link, allowing an external braking resistor to dissipate energy returned by the motor during deceleration. The integrated input and output channels allow the drive to exchange status signals, process analog references, and operate external devices without requiring separate interface hardware. Switching frequency can be adjusted according to the operating duty and acceptable motor noise while remaining within the drive’s thermal limits.
