Product Description:
The 13.F5.A3D-YA1E is an axis inverter produced by KEB and supplied through the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Designed for plant automation, the drive converts fixed-frequency mains power into a controlled three-phase output. This conversion supports coordinated AC motor operation on conveyors, material-handling stations, and process lines where regulated speed and torque are required.
Internally, the drive uses inverter size code 13, which corresponds to a frame containing the power stage and a standard control board. The input section accepts a 400 V class supply delivered as either AC or a combined AC/DC input, and the resulting DC link feeds a pulse-width-modulated output stage. The housing provides IP20 protection for installation inside an electrical enclosure, where it is protected from direct exposure to water and fine contaminants. A factory-mounted braking transistor supports controlled deceleration, while the integrated EMI filter helps limit conducted electrical interference. Current protection includes an overcurrent trip level of 216% of the nominal value and a short-term overload capacity of 180% for brief acceleration demands. The switching devices operate at 8 kHz, balancing motor response, audible noise, and thermal loading during operation.
Thermal management is provided by a factory-varnished special fan that resists ambient dust and moisture. The fan is secured inside housing code D and directs airflow across the heat sink to remove heat from the power electronics. When paired with a three-phase AC motor, the inverter can continuously handle up to 7.5 HP on a 230 V supply, supporting mid-sized pumps, conveyors, and similar equipment. An incremental encoder interface with auxiliary I/O allows the controller to read shaft position and exchange start, stop, and fault signals with a higher-level control system. The drive operates within an ambient temperature range of -10 to 45 °C, while unpowered storage is permitted between -25 and 70 °C. Proper panel ventilation is necessary to maintain airflow around the housing and prevent excessive heat buildup during sustained operation.
