Product Description:
The 12.F5.MDD-Y0P0 is an axis inverter produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It serves as a power converter that links a three-phase supply to servo or induction motors, supplying adjustable voltage and frequency so that motion controllers can command speed, torque, and position in automated machinery. Within an industrial cell, the drive occupies the motor side of the control loop, receiving setpoints from the PLC and returning status data that helps coordinate multi-axis tasks such as pick-and-place, winding, or conveying.
The drive accepts a mains input in the 400 V AC/DC class and modulates its output through insulated-gate devices that switch at a nominal rate of 2 kHz. Protective logic opens the output when current rises to 150% of rating, while brief overloads up to 125% are permitted to handle acceleration peaks. Analog torque commands are sampled and applied in only 250 µs, allowing tight current control during fast transients. Standard cooling relies on the surrounding cabinet airflow, and the IP20 enclosure is intended for installation inside a control panel. Size code 12 denotes the mechanical frame and wiring terminal capacity for this member of the Combivert family, and no internal encoder feedback card is fitted, so external feedback modules must be selected when closed-loop positioning is required.
The inverter can drive motors up to 5 HP and will support encoder cable runs as long as 50 m without signal repeaters. Its position register provides 32-bit resolution, giving fine granularity for indexing tables or gantry axes, and the drive stores up to 32 absolute positions that can be recalled directly through fieldbus commands. Eight programmable gearshift tables help match electronic gearing ratios, and the active table can be selected on the fly via digital inputs; the value 8 is the number of gearshift datasets that can be configured.
