The 12.F5.G1B-3500 axis inverter is manufactured by KEB and belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Installed in control cabinets, the drive converts fixed mains power into variable frequency and voltage so that a connected AC motor can follow precise speed and torque commands. In automated manufacturing lines, it links directly to PLCs and supports motion control for conveyors, extruders, hoists, and other equipment that requires adjustable acceleration and dynamic braking. Its cabinet-mounted format keeps the power electronics close to the machine controls while leaving the motor itself at the point of motion. This arrangement also supports centralized wiring for power distribution, control signals, and protective devices inside one enclosure.
The drive accepts a 3-phase 400 V AC/DC input and processes it through a PWM output stage for controlled motor operation. Two analog command lines each present 30 kΩ of input resistance, which helps prevent excessive loading on external reference devices, and their 12-bit conversion gives fine setpoint control. For process feedback, the unit provides two analog monitor channels with 100 Ω output impedance and 10-bit resolution. These channels let the controller exchange speed, torque, or tension values with the drive during continuous operation, and they support closed process supervision even when the motor itself is operated without direct position feedback.
The discrete side contains eight digital inputs scanned every 1 ms through a 2.1 kΩ front end, so limit switches, interlocks, and other on-off signals can be read quickly. The inverter can deliver motor power up to 5 HP continuously, permits short-term loading to 150%, and trips at 180% to protect the semiconductor stage. A built-in braking transistor absorbs regenerative energy during deceleration, which is useful on loads with frequent speed changes or high inertia. Reference signals are also available as +10 V DC or 4 mA outputs, and because no encoder feedback card is installed, the drive operates in open loop with a carrier frequency of 4 kHz.
