Product Description:
KEB's 12.F5.CBD-Z10D axis drive belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series and functions as a programmable inverter for single-axis motion in industrial automation. The unit uses the series’ DC-link architecture, receiving power through dedicated positive and negative bus bars and delivering a modulated three-phase output that follows command profiles from the controller. By integrating motor feedback through an incremental TTL channel, it regulates speed, torque, and position for induction or synchronous motors used on conveyors, packaging lines, and material-handling gantries.
The control section supports 8 digital inputs that accept 24 V field signals and provide internal filtering. For analog processing, the drive provides 2 analog inputs for setpoints such as speed or torque and 2 analog outputs for sending actual values to a PLC. Internal computations and cyclic fieldbus updates are completed within 2 ms, so axis commands remain synchronized with fast machine cycles. The inverter has a size code of 12, which corresponds to the associated heat sink, current class, and power module. Additional hardware includes an integrated braking transistor matched to a GTR7 chopper, 29 spring-clamp control terminals, and four software I/O channels that can be reassigned through the parameter menus.
Power handling reaches 5 HP, allowing the drive to control small to medium-frame motors without external gear reduction. Continuous operation is permitted until the heat sink reaches 90 °C, at which point thermal derating begins to protect the power electronics. A minimum full-load frequency of 6 Hz allows the application to obtain usable torque at crawl speeds during indexing or tension control. The input logic is switchable between PNP and NPN, enabling the same terminal block to accept sourcing or sinking sensors. Eight independent parameter sets support changes between different motor or product configurations without requiring the control values to be entered again.
