The 12.F5.C1D-ALC1 is an AC inverter drive produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Intended as the heart of an elevator drive package, it modulates three-phase voltage and frequency to match motor torque to car load while keeping ride comfort within code limits. The design merges power electronics and control logic into a single chassis, allowing the drive to handle acceleration, leveling, and brake release tasks that would otherwise require multiple discrete components.
At the power stage, the drive delivers 6.6 kVA of apparent power for elevator motor control. A factory-integrated braking transistor handles regenerative energy during deceleration. Logic inputs accept commands between 13 to 30 VDC and are scanned every 1 ms, so door, brake, and limit signals are captured quickly. Analog speed references are converted with 11-bit resolution, and a 10 V, 4 mA reference is provided for external potentiometers. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so the unit must be mounted inside a control cabinet. Control type is compact, and inverter size code 12 gives the unit a footprint suited to modernization projects. A minimum full-load operating frequency of 6 Hz lets the car move smoothly during leveling.
The unit is specified for ambient temperatures from -10 to 45 °C, and its heat sink may reach 90 °C before protective derating begins.
