Product Description:

The 12.F5.B3B-350A axis drive is produced by KEB as part of the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. This inverter converts fixed-frequency plant power into a variable output that can track motor load conditions, allowing coordinated speed and torque control in automated assembly cells, conveyors, and processing equipment. It integrates drive electronics, heat sink cooling, and onboard brake handling so that a single module can manage acceleration, deceleration, and standstill holding functions in multi-axis systems. Its compact cabinet format also supports installations where several axes must be grouped in a limited amount of panel space.

The unit supports motors up to 5 HP and draws a line current of 13 A from a three-phase 400 VAC supply. A coordinated braking transistor and EMI filter are installed to dissipate regenerated energy and limit conducted noise. Protection on the mains side is achieved with a 20 A gG fuse, while dynamic braking events are handled at a peak of 10 A. The size 12 inverter is mounted on a heat sink that dissipates 135 W of DC losses and 150 W of nominal heat at the rated switching frequency. The inverter supplies 9.5 A continuously to the motor, can deliver 17 A for short periods, and trips at 21 A to protect semiconductor devices. A minimum braking resistor of 82 Ω must be fitted to keep transistor current within safe limits.

The heat sink may rise to 90 °C during heavy loading, so airflow around the 2 kg enclosure should remain unobstructed. At the terminals, the drive provides an apparent output power of 6.6 kVA. Pulse-width modulation is performed at 4 kHz, balancing acoustic noise, motor heating, and switching loss. Stable current regulation helps the drive maintain predictable motor response during repeated starts, deceleration phases, and load changes.
