Product Description:
The 12.F5.A1D-3AVA is an axis drive module produced by KEB and supplied within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. As an AC/DC inverter, it converts three-phase mains power into a regulated output that allows controllers to adjust induction or synchronous motor speed and torque in automated machinery such as conveyors, packaging units, and winding stations. The device uses a Standard control board and fits the D housing format, providing a compact solution for cabinet installation and coordinated multi-axis motion.
The inverter has a continuous rated current of 9.5 A, while its thermal design allows momentary load peaks up to a maximum current of 17 A. The mains connection uses a line-to-line voltage of 400 V, allowing direct connection to common industrial power systems. High-frequency pulse-width modulation supports a maximum switching frequency of 16 kHz, while the rated switching frequency is 8 kHz. These values balance acoustic noise, motor heating, and semiconductor losses during operation. The supply can be drawn from three-phase AC mains or a DC bus, and the internal logic supervises gate timing to maintain stable vector control across the permitted frequency range.
An electronic overcurrent trip activates at 216% of the rated current, and a short-term current reserve of 180% allows the drive to deliver acceleration or deceleration bursts without triggering a protective shutdown. The unit can energize motors rated up to 5 HP, making it suitable for medium-frame machinery used in feeders or small hoists. The IP20 enclosure protects against accidental contact with internal components, but the module must be installed inside a closed cabinet because it does not provide protection against water. A built-in braking transistor dissipates regenerated energy during motor deceleration, helping control DC-bus voltage when connected loads return energy to the drive.
