Product Description:
The 12.F5.A1D-3AHA axis drive is produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It is a three-phase inverter that converts 400 V line power into a controlled output for positioning or speed-regulated motors used in conveyors, packaging machines, and similar automation stations. By accepting feedback from resolver or incremental sensors, the unit links the motion controller to the motor and executes closed-loop torque and velocity commands.
This model uses a Standard Board control core and corresponds to inverter size code 12, so its mechanical outline and bus bars match other size-12 units. The standard cooling assembly has a varnished finish that protects the power section from conductive dust, while its EMC rating meets class C1 for installations in residential or light-industrial areas. Under continuous duty, the drive delivers 4 kW at a rated output of 9.5 A with a switching frequency of 8 kHz. When greater dynamic accuracy is required, the switching frequency can be raised to 16 kHz, although thermal derating must then be observed. Its electronic protection trips if the phase current reaches 17 A. A built-in braking transistor dissipates regenerated energy, and motor position data enters through a resolver interface on a D-Sub 15 connector or through incremental pulses on a D-Sub 9 port.
During transient events, the drive can supply up to 180% of rated current for short intervals, providing additional torque for acceleration or shock loads. It triggers an overcurrent shutdown if the current rises to 216% of the nominal value. The power module supports motors up to 5 HP and operates from a 3-phase 400 V AC/DC supply, allowing the inverter frame to serve a broad range of conveyor or gantry axes. Resolver and incremental feedback circuits continue tracking rotor position during these overload periods, allowing the motion controller to maintain precise closed-loop operation.
