Product Description:
The 10.F5.M1D-KBDA is an axis drive manufactured by KEB and supplied under the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It is intended for use in industrial automation where a dedicated power stage is needed to run a three-phase asynchronous motor with precise speed and torque control. By modulating the inverter output in real time, the unit coordinates motor motion with PLC commands for conveyors, pumps, and positioning equipment on the factory floor.
This drive operates with a field-oriented control scheme, meaning stator current is mathematically transformed so that flux-producing and torque-producing components are regulated independently for fast dynamic response. The internal processor exchanges status and command words every 1 ms, keeping position and torque loops updated without noticeable lag. A carrier frequency of 16 kHz is available, so the voltage pulses applied to the motor are short enough to minimize acoustic noise and torque ripple. During acceleration or load shocks, the power stage can deliver up to 180% of its nominal current for a brief period, while an overcurrent trip is triggered at 216% to protect the IGBTs and motor windings from sustained overload. Closed-loop regulation is assisted by a braking transistor that dissipates excess DC-bus energy when the motor decelerates rapidly.
The drive has an IP20 open-style housing that measures 90 mm wide, 250 mm high, and 181 mm deep, allowing installation in compact control cabinets with forced-air passages. The power section is sized for motors up to 3 HP, matching many small conveyors and machine axes. An LCD operator panel with serial and CAN connectivity provides local parameter access and a peak-output readout, while TTL encoder interfaces on 15-pole and 9-pole D-Sub connectors provide rotor position feedback. Standard air cooling removes heat from the power electronics, and a varnished finish protects the unit during general-purpose motion tasks.
