The 10.F5.A1D-2BMA is an AC drive manufactured by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It is intended to regulate speed and torque on small-to-medium induction or synchronous motors used in conveyors, positioning tables, and similar automation axes. By converting the fixed mains supply to a controlled three-phase output, the unit lets a controller synchronize motor behavior with machine demand and improve process consistency and energy use.
The drive accepts a 1/3 Ph 230 VAC/DC input, so it can operate from either single-phase or three-phase sources. Its general motor limit is 3 HP, while a rated output current of 10 A and an apparent power of 4.0 kVA describe its continuous electrical output. The IGBT bridge switches at 16 kHz, which helps reduce audible noise and improve current resolution. An integrated braking transistor handles regenerative energy, and the braking circuit can sink up to 12 A during deceleration. For acceleration surges, the power stage tolerates a short-time current of 18 A without triggering protective shutdown.
An electronic trip activates when line or load faults push phase current to 21.6 A, protecting semiconductor devices and connected wiring. Internally, switching losses produce 170 W of heat, which the standard heat sink dissipates. The aluminum sink may rise to 90 °C before derating is required, and the cooling surface is sized for inverter frame code 10 to support cabinet layout. A minimum external braking resistor of 33 Ω must be fitted so the dynamic stop current stays within transistor limits. IP20 construction offers finger-safe access in clean panels, and motor leads up to 4 mm² can be landed on the terminal strip without lugs. The standard control board supplies basic I/O and fieldbus options for compact axis control in distributed machine cells.
