The 09.F5.EBD-YA50 belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series manufactured by KEB. It is an AC inverter that uses SCL sensorless vector control to run induction and permanent-magnet motors without an external encoder. The drive uses a compact D-type housing and is protected by a 16 A gG mains fuse for branch-circuit protection. Within an automation cell, it converts fixed-frequency supply power into variable frequency and amplitude, providing accurate speed and torque regulation for motors rated up to the limits noted below.
The input side draws a nominal 6 A, while the inverter can supply a continuous output of 4.1 A to the motor. At this current, the unit delivers an output capacity of 2.8 kVA, matching machines that require mechanical shaft power near 1.5 kW. Pulse-width modulation is carried out at up to 16 kHz. A higher carrier lowers motor acoustic noise and improves current resolution, but it also raises internal switching losses that must be managed by panel airflow. A motor cable cross-section of 1.5 mm² is supported, aligning conductor size with the rated current so that voltage drop and thermal rise stay within safe limits. Because no encoder feedback card is installed, all speed estimation relies on the SCL algorithm and the motor’s inherent electrical model.
The built-in braking transistor channels deceleration energy through an external resistor, and the drive can deliver up to 7.5 A of DC into that element provided its resistance is at least 120 Ω. When brief overloads occur, a short-time output of 7.4 A is available for torque boosts, after which the current must return to the continuous value to avoid a thermal trip. Hardware protection is completed by an overcurrent shutdown that activates at 8.9 A. A safety relay included in the accessory package permits STO functionality, and the housing leaves space for this relay as well as the optional braking resistor wiring.
