The 09.F5.CBD-YA03 is an axis drive module produced by KEB within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It is intended for use in industrial automation cells where variable-speed control of standard three-phase induction or synchronous motors is needed. By modulating the supplied voltage and frequency, the unit acts as the interface between a motion controller and the motor, enabling coordinated positioning or speed regulation tasks on conveyors, packaging machines, and material-handling equipment. This role allows the module to translate controller commands into controlled motor operation during acceleration, steady running, and deceleration.
An installed braking transistor lets the drive dissipate regenerated energy through an external resistor, keeping the DC link voltage within safe limits during rapid deceleration. Power is accepted over three input phases, and the mains draw is limited to 6 A, making the device suitable for lightly loaded feeders. The inverter can synthesize output frequencies up to 400 Hz, so overspeed operation of high-frequency spindle motors is possible. Current sensors protect the power stage by tripping when demand exceeds 216%. Internally, the IGBTs switch at 8 kHz to reduce motor acoustic noise, and the resulting heat is removed by convection through the aluminum housing without forced airflow.
The thermal design supports continuous operation until the heat sink reaches 90 °C, after which the drive derates to protect semiconductor junctions. Installation is permitted up to 2000 m above sea level without adjustment, accommodating most plant mezzanines or rooftop enclosures. When paired with a correctly sized machine, the inverter can deliver motor power of 1.5 kW at the shaft while the DC bus handles output power of 2.8 kVA. The unit also has a 180% short-time current ceiling and requires a 16 A class-gG mains fuse. It uses a D-style housing and a compact control format, and it does not include an encoder interface.
