The 09.F5.CBB-YA53 axis drive is produced by KEB and belongs to the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Designed for machine-tool spindles, packaging equipment, and multi-axis material handling, the unit converts fixed-frequency mains power into a variable frequency and amplitude output that regulates asynchronous or synchronous motors in automated lines. In a control cabinet, it operates as a closed-loop interface between the motion controller and the motor, providing the modulation, protection, and diagnostic functions required for repeatable positioning and speed control throughout industrial automation cells.
The drive’s control channel samples each differential analog reference with an 11-bit converter that completes a full pass every 2 ms, allowing fine speed demand steps without aliasing. On the power side, it is rated for an input of 400 VAC on a three-phase supply, and the internal IGBT bridge switches at a carrier frequency of 8 kHz. Continuous motor feed is limited to an output current of 4.1 A, which corresponds to an apparent power of 2.8 kVA at nominal voltage. Current monitoring trips at 8.9 A, while a short-time surge of 7.4 A is permitted for acceleration. Cable runs between the drive and motor may reach 30 m at that switching frequency, helping limit excessive dV/dt.

During deceleration, the braking chopper diverts up to 7.5 A into an external resistor of at least 120 Ω, preventing DC-bus overvoltage.
