The 09.F5.CBB-YA50 is an axis drive unit manufactured by KEB for its F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. In an automation cell, this drive functions as the interface between a higher-level motion controller and the motor on a single machine axis. It converts command data into regulated current and voltage while also collecting local process signals for feedback.
The local I/O block provides 12-bit resolution on each analog input channel and 11-bit resolution on the analog outputs, allowing proportional speed or torque references to be read and retransmitted with minimal quantization error. A total of 2 analog inputs and two analog outputs are wired to a removable terminal strip that is part of the drive’s 29 control terminals. For event counting, a dedicated counter input accepts pulses up to 250 Hz, enabling simple feedback from tachometer wheels or flow sensors. PNP / NPN selectable input logic is also available for compatibility with different field signal conventions. The analog, digital, and counter channels are sampled together, and the controller updates its software objects every 2 ms so that transient process changes are captured in real time.
All eight digital inputs can be mapped to software I/O, and the pair of digital outputs share a current budget of 50 mA total for status lamps or interlocks. Field devices are powered from an auxiliary bus that the drive expects at 24 V DC; losing this supply will not trip the main inverter, but it disables the control terminals. Parameter management supports eight parameter sets, each of which can be called from the host PLC. The drive also includes two form-C relay outputs rated at 30 V DC / 1 A, along with software access to four internal I/O bits. There is no encoder feedback card installed, so position information must be derived from open-loop signal processing or external sensors.
