The 09.F5.CBB-YA31 is an axis drive module manufactured by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. In an automation line, this unit regulates motor torque and speed, acting as the power stage between a motion controller and a three-phase machine tool or conveyor. By executing current-vector control inside its flat-rear housing, it supports closed-loop positioning through a Hiperface or incremental encoder interface while remaining compatible with 400 V utility supplies.
The analog command channel accepts currents from 0 to ±20 mA, allowing either unipolar or bipolar process signals. These inputs are digitized with a 12-bit converter, so the drive can resolve 4,096 discrete setpoints. Voltage references from 0 to ±10 V are handled on the same terminals, providing flexibility when the upstream PLC delivers voltage instead of current. The drive provides 8 configurable digital inputs that can operate as PNP or NPN inputs, allowing sequence logic, limit switches, or safety relays to trigger internal functions. The scan time across all inputs and outputs is only 2 ms, which keeps the reaction delay minimal. Two analog outputs mirror speed or torque feedback across a 0 to ±10 V range for supervisory monitoring. A flat-rear mounting version with form-factor code B helps the inverter sit flush against a cabinet wall and promotes direct heat sinking.
For transient overloads, the inverter supplies up to 180% of its rated current, providing additional current during brief increases in motor demand. An overcurrent trip threshold of 216% protects the output stage against prolonged faults. The power devices switch at 8 kHz, a frequency high enough to reduce motor noise while limiting semiconductor losses. When the internal fault relay changes state, it can operate indicator lamps or interlocks directly because its contacts are rated for 30 VDC at 1 A. Dual encoder support permits the use of Hiperface or incremental feedback for closed-loop motor control. The unit can accept a 400 V AC or AC/DC input arrangement, while rear-panel cooling transfers heat toward the cabinet mounting surface.
