KEB’s 09.F5.C1B-2B0A is an AC variable-frequency drive in the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. The unit modulates single-phase or three-phase mains power so induction or synchronous motors can be speed-controlled from a central PLC or a standalone operator panel. In conveyor, packaging, or positioning systems, it converts fixed-frequency supply energy into a regulated output that aligns motor torque with process demand, improving efficiency and helping protect connected equipment. Its cabinet-mounted design suits clean industrial installations where compact drive control is required.
The drive accepts a single-phase or three-phase input at 230 VAC and uses an IGBT bridge to raise motor frequency to 599 Hz. Under rated conditions, it supplies 7 A of sinusoidal current and delivers 2.8 kVA of apparent power to applications requiring up to 1.5 kW of shaft output. Full-load operation starts above 6 Hz, while brief overloads are handled through a short-time current mode. Internal conduction and switching losses total 90 W, and that heat is transferred into cabinet airflow through the aluminum heat sink mounted on the rear panel.
The drive includes built-in braking and protective functions for deceleration and fault handling. Its braking transistor connects to external resistors no smaller than 47 Ω, allowing the unit to absorb 9.5 A of regenerative current and limit surge current to 12.6 A. If phase current exceeds 15.1 A, the inverter disconnects immediately. The housing meets the IP20 standard, and the control board does not include an encoder interface, so speed feedback must come from the motor terminals or from an external sensor. Thermal operation remains within limits as long as the heat sink stays below 90 °C, and the carrier frequency is fixed at 16 kHz to help control dissipation.
