The 09.F5.B1B-YA00 axis drive is produced by KEB as part of the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Used in multi-axis motion cells, the unit converts fixed-frequency mains power into a regulated three-phase output that a PLC can modulate through fieldbus or analog references. By doing so, it maintains commanded velocity and torque profiles for induction or synchronous motors, allowing coordinated positioning, tension control, and speed matching in automated conveyors and packaging machinery.
Motion commands enter the drive through a ±10 V differential channel that is digitized with an 11-bit converter, giving 2048 discrete speed steps for precise velocity trim. Five discrete control lines follow PNP logic and handle enable, jog, and quick-stop functions. Seventeen terminals dedicated to control power and signaling provide 17 wiring points for panel integration. The inverter section modulates its IGBTs at a base switching frequency of 8 kHz, a rate that reduces acoustic motor noise and improves current waveform quality. An internal cycle time of 2 ms enables the microcontroller to refresh all inputs, outputs, and control loops fast enough for high-bandwidth web handling or pick-and-place axes.
The internal electronics draw their logic power from a stable 24 V DC auxiliary supply, isolating the control core from line disturbances. For rapid deceleration, the factory-installed braking stage uses a GTR 7 transistor to route excess DC-bus energy into an external resistor. Temporary overload events are supported with a maximum short-time output current of 180% of rating before the overcurrent limit intervenes at 216%. Despite these capabilities, the housing occupies only 90 x 220 x 160 mm, and the standard air cooling arrangement lets the drive be mounted in densely packed cabinets without auxiliary fans.
