Product Description:
The 09.F5.B1B-2900 is an axis drive module produced by KEB within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It regulates motor speed and torque in multi-axis machinery by modulating the supply and delivering controlled current to a connected servo or induction motor. In assembly lines, packaging equipment, and handling stations, the unit forms the interface between higher-level controllers and motion hardware, translating command signals into precisely timed voltage pulses. This operating role allows coordinated axis movement where repeatable acceleration, deceleration, and speed control are required across several machine functions.
The drive has a continuous power rating of 1.5 kW and can supply up to 7 A of phase current to the motor when fed from a 230 V AC/DC line on either single-phase or three-phase feeders. Internal power devices switch at 4 kHz, balancing harmonic content with thermal load during normal operation. For short acceleration periods, the current limit can rise to 180% of nominal, which gives the motor additional torque during demanding motion changes. A built-in GTR 7 braking transistor diverts regenerative energy to a resistor during deceleration, helping the drive manage returned energy when the axis slows or reverses direction. Five digital inputs accept position or enable commands, and the cooling method uses standard convection so no fan service is required.
An overcurrent trip activates at 216% of rated current to help protect the power semiconductors from damage. The open housing has an IP20 rating suited for cabinet mounting, where surrounding enclosure protection is still required. The control board scans field signals every 2 ms and routes them through 17 control terminals arranged along the top edge for straightforward wiring access. No encoder feedback card is installed, so speed feedback must come from an external source or a sensorless control method. The housing measures 90 mm wide, 160 mm deep, and 220 mm high, allowing the module to sit side by side with other Combivert F5 units on a DIN rail.
