The 05-F5.B1B-3900 axis drive is manufactured by KEB within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It is intended for motor control duties in industrial automation cells where coordinated motion, speed regulation, and torque limitation are required. When integrated with a PLC, the unit modulates power to a connected three-phase motor so that conveyors, spindle heads, or material-handling axes follow programmed profiles while staying within thermal and electrical limits.
An analog command channel accepts a range of 0 to ±10 V, which permits proportional speed or torque references from external controllers. The signal is digitized at an 11-bit resolution, giving 2048 discrete levels for fine setpoint control. One analog input is complemented by five PNP-compatible digital inputs for enable, direction, or preset selection, while two form-C relay outputs report status to higher-level systems. The drive’s power section is energized from a 3-phase 400 V AC/DC supply, and an internal 24 V control rail keeps logic active during brief mains dips. All connections are protected by an IP20 enclosure, making the unit suitable for installation inside a switchgear cabinet. Control tasks are executed on a cyclic basis, and the I/O variables are refreshed every 2 ms to allow timely reaction to command changes in fast-moving machinery.
During acceleration or load transients, the inverter can deliver up to 180% of its nominal current for a limited duration, and the overcurrent trip level is fixed at 216% to protect semiconductors against prolonged overloads. A factory-mounted braking transistor dissipates regenerated energy through an external resistor, maintaining DC-link voltage at high deceleration rates while the output stage pulses at 4 kHz to minimize audible noise. Control electronics, sensors, and encoder emulators are powered from the drive’s internal 24 V DC supply, so no separate auxiliary unit is required.
