Product Description:
The 00.F5.060-3100 communication module is produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Designed as an optional plug-in board, it equips a drive with PROFIBUS connectivity so that motion parameters, status words, and alarms can be exchanged with supervisory controllers in real time. By adding this board, a drive becomes an addressable node on the plant bus, which supports centralized setup, recipe downloads, and coordinated multi-axis control in material-handling and packaging machinery. The bus master manages deterministic cycle timing during network operation.
As a DP-slave, the module permits a segment to contain up to 32 stations before repeaters are required. Communication follows the open PROFIBUS-DP profile and can run as fast as 12.5 MBaud, allowing quick cyclic updates for demanding motion tasks. Signaling is carried over RS485, and the installation manual specifies shielded twisted-pair cable to reduce common-mode interference. Physical wiring is simple because the board provides two in-line ports, each implemented with a 9-pin D-Sub socket, so the incoming trunk and outgoing connection can remain within the enclosure. Only 6 bytes of diagnostic data are transmitted per telegram, giving the host quick access to fault codes without excessive bandwidth use.
Process exchange sizes are fixed for the module’s communication functions. Up to 16 bytes of cyclic process data can be mapped for real-time control, while the acyclic parameter channel handles 8 bytes per access for tuning or backup. For larger records such as drive parameter sets, a maximum message length of 32 bytes is supported, and the default user data area starts at 12 bytes. The module uses ident number 0x05EB and can be checked locally through the HSP5 service interface even though it is shipped without a display. No encoder feedback card is required because the board leaves the inverter’s internal sensing architecture unchanged, which helps keep overall wiring simple.
