The 00.F5.060-2100 communication module is manufactured by KEB as part of the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Mounted on the control section of an F5 inverter, the board adds serial data exchange so controllers, HMIs, or diagnostic tools can read parameters and issue commands during automated motion cycles. By inserting this option card, the drive gains a standardized link to external equipment without altering the power stage, which simplifies setup, monitoring, and remote access for drive-based machinery.
The module presents an interface labeled as RS232/RS485, allowing point-to-point or multidrop wiring depending on network size and noise conditions. Data framing follows ANSI X3.28, a character-based protocol that keeps telegram interpretation consistent across connected devices. Electrical isolation is provided by a Potential-Separated barrier that helps prevent ground loops between the drive and a supervisory PLC. Physical connection is made through a D-Sub 9-pole plug that is compatible with standard serial cables used in industrial settings. The board derives its logic power from the drive’s auxiliary bus and requires a stabilized +5 V supply so the communication electronics remain active whenever the control section is energized.
