The 00.F5.060-2000 communication module is produced by KEB and fits the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Installed inside a drive, it exposes a selectable RS232 or RS485 port so that maintenance PCs or higher-level PLCs can monitor speed references, read faults, and adjust parameters without disrupting production. By providing an electrically isolated channel, the board preserves signal integrity in noisy plant environments and streamlines integration of the axis into distributed automation networks.

The module brings a dual-mode RS232/RS485 interface to the drive by means of a 9-pole D-Sub connector. Inside the plug, the receive path for RS232 is on pin 3, while the transmit line is on pin 2. For half-duplex RS485, the differential receive pair uses pins 4(A+)/5(B-), and the transmit pair uses pins 8(A+)/9(B-). A chassis ground on pin 7 shields the circuit from motor noise. Logic circuits draw 10 mA from a stabilized +5 V feed provided by the drive, minimizing heat inside the panel. With no encoder feedback card installed, the slot is dedicated entirely to communication.
