The 00.F5.060-2000 communication module is produced by KEB and fits the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Installed inside a drive, it exposes a selectable RS232 or RS485 port so that maintenance PCs or higher-level PLCs can monitor speed references, read faults, and adjust parameters without disrupting production. By providing an electrically isolated channel, the board preserves signal integrity in noisy plant environments and streamlines integration of the axis into distributed automation networks.
The module brings a dual-mode RS232/RS485 interface to the drive by means of a 9-pole D-Sub connector. Inside the plug, the receive path for RS232 is on pin 3, while the transmit line is on pin 2. For half-duplex RS485, the differential receive pair uses pins 4(A+)/5(B-), and the transmit pair uses pins 8(A+)/9(B-). A chassis ground on pin 7 shields the circuit from motor noise. All signals are electrically isolated from the control logic, preventing ground loops when several axes share long cable runs. The connector links directly to PC service tools and PLC channel modules without external converters.
For serial communication, external traffic defaults to 9600 baud, balancing noise immunity with legacy controller compatibility. For high-speed data capture, the port can reach 55,500 baud, while the internal bus runs at 250 kbaud so parameter exchanges remain short. At power-up, the internal bus starts at 38.4 kbaud before the firmware applies user settings. The board supports the DIN 66019, ANSI X3.28, and DIN 66019 II protocol set, letting it communicate with both European and American serial formats. Logic circuits draw 10 mA from a stabilized +5 V feed provided by the drive, minimizing heat inside the panel. With no encoder feedback card installed, the slot is dedicated entirely to communication.
