By translating cyclic telegrams into internal control words, the device allows the axis to follow master instructions in coordinated machines such as conveyors, winders, and packaging stations.
Field communication is handled through PROFIBUS-DP, and the unit provides an IN/OUT line topology so bus cables can pass through without external tees. Electrical connection is made with a 9-pin D-Sub plug that carries differential signals and power for the bus electronics. The controller appears on the network as a passive user (slave), meaning it transmits only in response to the master and never initiates traffic. Data rates reach 12.5 MBaud, enabling short cycle times when multiple axes share the segment.
