The 00.F5.060-F000 is a plug-in communication module produced by KEB for integration with the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It turns the inverter into a network node on an EtherCAT line so controllers can exchange cyclic data with the drive in real time. The link lets a PLC send torque or speed commands and receive feedback for closed-loop control.
Physical connection to the network is provided by an RJ45 jack that supports the IEEE 802.3 100Base-T physical layer, allowing 100 Mbit/s traffic. The board includes two ports, labeled X6C for the incoming line and X6D for the outgoing line, so daisy-chain wiring can be maintained. Because the card operates as an EtherCAT slave, telegrams are processed in hardware with a minimum cycle time of 1 ms, helping keep update loops tight. When configuration data is required, the card uses CANopen over EtherCAT (CoE) mailbox services. These packets travel outside the real-time channel, so parameter downloads do not disrupt motion. Internally, a triple-buffer mechanism stores process data while each frame is validated, and a dedicated service interface remains available for local diagnostics.
For cyclic I/O, the module handles up to 8 byte/direction of standard process data, which is suitable for typical control words, status words, and two feedback variables. If an application needs additional cyclic payload, an extended channel raises the capacity to 16 byte/direction, enabling simultaneous transfer of multiple setpoints or sensor values. A separate mailbox pool accepts 50 byte of incoming service data and mirrors that size on transmission, so larger parameter blocks can be exchanged in a single segment. The dedicated HSP5 interface can be used for these non-cyclic tasks without affecting the real-time path, which helps prevent parameter traffic from delaying deterministic data flow through the EtherCAT ring.
