The 00.F5.060-A000 is a communication and control module supplied by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. Installed in the drive’s option slot, it provides a serial link that lets a PLC or supervisory HMI exchange process data and execute diagnostics without disrupting normal inverter operation. By translating fieldbus traffic into parameters understood by the drive, the board helps synchronize axis speed, torque, and fault handling within automated production lines.

The module presents a field connection through a Sub-D 9 Female plug, and that connector carries signals for the dual-purpose RS232 / RS485 serial interface. When shipped from the factory, the port is framed for 8 data bits, even parity, 1 stop bit. This framing provides stable character timing that aligns with the drive’s internal scan cycle. Protocol handling defaults to Modbus RTU, so a master can poll holding registers or issue writes using widely adopted function codes. Network addressing is fixed at 255(dec) until a user parameter change is stored. Two read-map entries and two write-map entries are preloaded, which gives immediate access to common command and status words while keeping bus traffic low.

Front-edge service is performed through the drive’s HSP5 port, enabling uploads or expanded trace capture without removing field wiring. Status is indicated locally: the error LED illuminates Red upon a detected fault, and the Mdb LED flashes Green with every valid Modbus frame. The option is supplied without an encoder feedback card, allowing a compatible feedback variant to be selected for resolver, incremental, or absolute sensors later.
