The 00.F5.060.4000 communication board is produced by KEB for the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. This pluggable card equips an inverter with InterBus fieldbus access so a motion controller can exchange status words and setpoints with the axis in real time across a standardized two-wire channel. It acts as the interface between the power electronics and the plant network, handling serialization and galvanic separation of the data stream while remaining within the footprint of the drive. Its compact format allows the inverter to add network connectivity without requiring an external gateway or a separate mounting position inside the cabinet.

Electrically, the module implements the physical bus layer on RS485, while the logical protocol follows InterBus 2-Wire and transfers a fixed communication word count of 1 per cycle. Frames move at 500 kBaud, giving short update times for torque, speed, and status information. The incoming trunk cable terminates on a connector that conforms to DIN 41652 Part 1, and on the inverter side the board presents a D-Sub 9 male plug, so installation does not require soldering. An isolated transceiver section helps preserve signal quality, and the pluggable form factor allows the card to be removed without disturbing adjacent electronics.

Downstream daisy-chaining is provided by a D-Sub 9 female socket that feeds the next node on the ring. The interface withstands 500 VDC of functional isolation, preventing ground loops when several axes share the same supply bus, and environmental suitability extends up to 45 °C for use in standard control cabinets. Power for the logic is taken directly from the inverter's internal supply rails, eliminating separate wiring, and an HSP5 service interface is available for fault tracing. The InterBus controller can pack or unpack as much as 64 bytes in a single request or response, supporting parameter downloads and extended diagnostics.
