It converts single-phase mains power into regulated three-phase output and combines inverter electronics, protective fuses, and field wiring points inside one enclosure. In automated machinery, it provides variable-speed control for small induction motors, allowing conveyors, mixers, and indexing tables to match torque and speed demands without separate drive modules. Because the power conversion and protection components are housed together, the cabinet functions as a compact control package for small drive applications.
It operates in the 200 V voltage class and accepts a single input phase, matching facilities that lack a balanced supply. The permitted mains frequency range is 50/60 Hz. Power first passes through a 20 A mains fuse, then a 10 A fast intermediate fuse, and finally a 0.4 A time-lag control fuse that protects the low-power logic. The converter feeds three output phases at frequencies up to 408 Hz, allowing high-speed motor operation where the application requires a wide speed range above standard line frequency. Continuous capability is rated at 4.5 A and 1.8 kVA, and the connected motor limit is 0.75 kW to keep thermal loading within design margins. At nominal load, the enclosure must dissipate 65 W, which is used when ventilation is planned. Excess kinetic energy during deceleration is directed to an external resistor that connects at the PA/PB terminals, preventing DC-bus overvoltage.
For installation, the cabinet can be mounted at elevations up to 3000 m. When the site exceeds 1000 m, output ratings must be reduced by 1 %/100 m because thinner air impairs heat transfer. Field conductors attached to the output and brake blocks need a minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm² to carry the specified currents safely and limit voltage drop. Using conductors below this size can increase terminal heating during operation. The altitude reduction and conductor requirements should both be observed during installation so the cabinet operates within its intended electrical and thermal range.
