Product Description:
The 16.DR.B08-7341 is a three-phase motor input choke produced by KEB for the DR Motor Input Chokes series. Installed on the inverter line side, the device limits steep current rise, attenuates harmonic distortion, and helps protect motor windings in industrial automation systems that use variable-frequency drives. By adding inductive impedance, it smooths the waveform before it reaches sensitive power electronics, which can extend drive and motor service life in conveyor, pump, and process equipment.
The choke’s inductive element measures 0.73 mH, providing opposition to changing current and supporting ripple reduction at the inverter terminals. A continuous load of 40 A can flow through the winding without exceeding its thermal rating, allowing the component to support midsize drives without derating. The line insulation is designed for a voltage of 400 V, so the choke can operate on compatible low-voltage networks without a step-down transformer. Cable lugs or ferrules must accommodate a conductor cross-section of 10 mm², helping keep terminal heating within allowable limits during maximum current flow. Proper conductor sizing also supports secure termination and reduces the risk of excessive resistance at the connection points.
The unit is paired with drives rated up to 15 kW, so its magnetic core and copper area are sized for that power class. At full load, it dissipates 76 W, and this heat can usually be removed by natural convection inside a ventilated panel. The assembly weighs 7 kg and measures 178 mm in width, allowing it to be installed on suitable rails or backplates without placing excessive load on the mounting surface. Its frontal height is 110 mm, while its depth is 175 mm. These dimensions should be considered when establishing enclosure clearances, conductor bend space, and airflow around the winding. Adequate spacing around the choke also helps prevent nearby components from obstructing natural heat dissipation during continuous operation.
