Product Description:
The 13.DR.B08-1851 is a motor input choke produced by KEB for the DR Motor Input Chokes series. Installed between the plant supply and an inverter-driven motor, this passive component raises line impedance to reduce harmonic content and protect the drive against transient currents. By smoothing the input waveform, it helps protect automation equipment and reduce electromagnetic interference within control cabinets. It is intended for three-phase networks that operate with pulse-width-modulated drives commonly used in conveyors, mixers, and packaging lines.
The choke has an inductance of 1.83 mH, which determines how strongly it resists rapid current changes and limits di/dt at the drive terminals. The core and conductor geometry support a continuous line current of 16 A, allowing the unit to serve small to midrange motor drives without becoming saturated at rated current. Power loss amounts to 53 W, so cabinet ventilation must remove the resulting heat during continuous operation. The copper winding has a cross-sectional area of 2.5 mm², balancing current density with a manageable coil size. The enclosure has a width of 95 mm, allowing it to fit beside contactors or braking resistors on the same DIN backplate.
The choke stands 165 mm high and measures 178 mm deep, so the enclosure must provide sufficient clearance above and behind adjacent modules for airflow. Its mounting slots have center-to-center spacing of 166 × 73 mm, matching the common hole pattern on KEB drive panels, while each elongated aperture measures 4.8 × 8 mm for suitable mounting hardware. The laminated core and molded housing have a combined weight of 5 kg, providing mechanical stability and helping damp vibration from nearby switching equipment. The mounting arrangement allows the choke to be secured directly to a suitable cabinet backplate without an additional support frame.
