The 12.DR.B08-2851 input choke is produced by KEB for the DR Motor Input Chokes series and is intended for installation between the main power supply and an inverter or drive. By adding series inductance, the choke limits line-side current rise and attenuates differential-mode noise, protecting both the upstream network and the connected drive from rapid current changes. In industrial automation systems, it improves the power factor of three-phase motor circuits and reduces harmonics that could otherwise stress semiconductors and capacitors inside frequency converters.
The device is designed for a nominal line voltage of 400 V, and its circuitry can carry a continuous phase current of 10 A without saturation. Because the choke is built for a three-phase system, its windings share the magnetic core and balance the magnetic flux under symmetrical load conditions. An inductance of 2.93 mH provides the impedance needed to moderate inrush current when the drive’s DC link charges while allowing stable torque production under load. The unit operates within a supply frequency range of 45–65 Hz, accommodating the frequency tolerance of common industrial power networks.
