Product Description:
The 07.DR.B08-4951 input choke is produced by KEB within the DR Motor Input Chokes series. As a line reactor, this component is installed between the mains supply and an inverter-driven motor circuit to damp current peaks, limit harmonic distortion, and protect drive electronics in industrial automation assemblies. Its iron-core coil increases source impedance and smooths the current drawn from the supply, reducing stress on upstream fuses and contactors. This filtering also helps prevent abrupt changes in line current from reaching sensitive components in the connected drive system.
The choke is designed for a continuous load current of 6 A, so the copper winding and core remain within their thermal limits when supplying typical fractional-kilowatt motors. It is rated for the 400 V AC industrial voltage class, ensuring that its insulation clearances accommodate common three-phase utility lines. The winding has an inductance of 4.88 mH, which provides sufficient reactance at 50 or 60 Hz without causing an unacceptable voltage drop. Across an input frequency range of 45–65 Hz, the inductive reactance remains proportional to the line frequency, maintaining comparable filtering performance on grids that do not operate exactly at their nominal frequency. Because the device is built for a three-phase network, the core and bobbin carry three symmetrically wound coils that share magnetic flux for balanced attenuation.
At full load, the iron core and winding dissipate 22 W, so the choke should be mounted where natural convection can carry the generated heat away. Line conductors with cross-sectional areas up to 2.5 mm² fit the terminal clamps, accommodating the rated current without excessive resistance. The laminated core and terminal block are enclosed in a frame measuring 96 × 72 × 115 mm, allowing installation in compact control cabinets. The unit weighs 1.6 kg, so it can be secured to lightweight sheet-metal panels with suitable reinforcement. Two slots measuring 4.8 × 9 mm are positioned on centers of 56 × 47 mm, providing a consistent mounting footprint that keeps the choke rigid during vibration.
