KEB manufactures the 10.C6.AF1-4002, a panel-mount controller in the C6 Combicontrol Bus Couplers series. The device combines an embedded CPU, touchscreen display, and fieldbus interface, allowing it to act as a compact HMI and gateway between machine-level I/O and higher-level networks in industrial automation. By integrating visualization and protocol conversion in one unit, it reduces cabinet space while giving PLCs and drives a unified operator interface. The sealed front panel is suitable for production lines exposed to dust and moisture.
The resistive touchscreen overlays a 10.4-inch TFT with a usable display area of 211.2 × 158.4 mm. Luminance reaches 400 cd/m², so graphics remain legible under factory lighting. A contrast ratio of 700:1 helps operators distinguish fine gradients on process screens. The native resolution is 800 × 600 pixels, and the pixel pitch is 0.264 × 0.264 mm, providing crisp text on small widgets. The panel responds within 20 ms, limiting lag during rapid menu navigation. Interaction is detected through a 5-wire analog resistive sensor that continues to function when users wear gloves or when fluids are present on the surface. The display supports 16 million colors for detailed status graphics.
Processing tasks are handled by an ARM Cortex-A8 Freescale i.MX535 processor that operates at 1 GHz. The controller has 1 GB of DDR3-800 system memory for application code and buffering, complemented by 256 MB of NAND flash and 4 GB of eMMC for persistent data. Two Ethernet channels provide separation between machine networks and plant IT. One channel operates at a fixed rate of 100 Mbps, while the other supports automatic negotiation at 10 or 100 Mbps. The glass front has an IP66 protection rating, allowing washdown cleaning without risking the ingress of dust or water. The embedded platform can process fieldbus traffic while displaying detailed graphics through the integrated touchscreen.
