The 00C6CE1-0100 bus coupler is built by KEB within the C6 Combicontrol Bus Couplers series. The unit connects distributed digital and analog modules to a central controller, acting as a protocol bridge so that sensors, valves, and drives can exchange data across an EtherCAT plant network. By placing this device at the edge of a machine section, a control system can consolidate field wiring and simplify diagnostics while preserving deterministic communication between motion groups and supervisory PLCs.

Its communication side supports a baud rate of 100 Mbit/s, matching the EtherCAT channel handled internally by the ASIC ET1200 controller. The primary power interface accepts 24 V DC, and from this supply rail the coupler can source up to 300 mA over the internal E-bus to downstream slice modules. That E-bus leaves the housing through a 10-pin system plug, while external sensor clusters connect through an 18-pole spring-assisted I/O connector for tool-free installation. Signal isolation is supported by an insulation rating of 500 V, and compliance with overvoltage category II helps limit the effects of surge events. When installed, the device occupies only 12.5 mm of cabinet width, which helps conserve panel space.

Functional safety is integrated, and the coupler provides 4 safety-rated inputs and 2 safety-rated semiconductor outputs. These channels achieve a worst-case reaction time of 5 ms from edge detection to fieldbus telegram. The electronics remain stable up to the specified maximum ambient temperature of 55 °C, and the molded enclosure carries a minimum protection level of IP54, which helps guard against dust ingress and water spray when cabinets are vented. A spring clip locks onto a 35 mm DIN rail, and the same metallic rail provides the reference ground required for the internal EMC filters. Under full load, the assembly stays within its thermal limits without additional fans.
