The 00.C6.CB1-0600 is an I/O bus coupler created by KEB for the C6 Combicontrol Bus Couplers series. In an automation cell, it links distributed digital signals to the network backbone and serves as the local interface between sensors, actuators, and the higher-level controller. By combining 24 V field wiring with the series' internal E-Bus, it eliminates the need for separate gateway modules while maintaining compact DIN-rail dimensions inside machine cabinets. This arrangement allows a controller to exchange process data with remote I/O slices without placing a full PLC at each machine section. Local wiring stays concentrated at the coupler, which helps organize cabinets where multiple signal groups are brought together.
The communication layer runs at 100 Mbit/s and is managed by the ET1200 ASIC, so deterministic cycle times are possible even when multiple nodes share the segment. The unit accepts 16 digital inputs. Each sourcing output channel can deliver up to 0.5 A per output, and the group is supplied by the system's 24 VDC auxiliary voltage rail. A matching set of 16 transistor outputs mirrors the input width for straightforward wiring of contactors or optical indicators. Internally, the module draws 135 mA from the E-Bus, leaving current reserve for downstream terminal slices. That balance suits stations that must read switches while driving lamps, relays, or other light loads from the same node.
Overcurrent events are limited by a built-in thermal fuse, and field power enters through a 36-pole connector while the backplane continues through a compact 10-pin E-Bus port. All output channels share a combined current ceiling of 8 A, allowing simultaneous actuation of small solenoids without tripping the supply. The EtherCAT fieldbus supports distributed-clock synchronization for coordinated input latching and output refreshing across the line. Synchronized timing is useful when several modules must sample inputs and update outputs in a consistent cycle. The coupler also integrates the required end-of-line resistor network, so no separate termination module is needed.
