The 00.C6.CB1-0500 bus coupler is produced by KEB and belongs to the C6 Combicontrol Bus Couplers series. In an automation line, it presents the physical and logical interface between machine-mounted I/O terminals and the EtherCAT network. It ensures that discrete field signals are transported to a controller without local program execution.
This coupler transmits process data on EtherCAT at a baud rate of 100 Mbit/s, a speed managed internally by the ASIC ET1200 communications controller. Operating power is fed through the module supply of 24 V DC. That voltage is carried on an 18-pole I/O power connector and shared with downstream terminals. The unit draws 130 mA from the E-bus and passes signals through a 10-pin system plug, eliminating additional wiring inside the terminal row. It is fixed onto a 35 mm DIN rail, and its open-frame housing meets the IP20 protection class for installation inside a control cabinet. No separate end module is required because the internal design already closes the E-bus signal path.
The output section provides 16 digital channels. Each channel can switch loads up to 0.5 A, while the entire device carries a combined load of 8 A to support parallel actuators such as valve coils or indicator lamps. Current flows are monitored so channel limits cannot be exceeded. All electronics are contained within compact dimensions of 25 × 120 × 90 mm, allowing dense mounting in multi-axis cabinets. The enclosure size leaves clearance for the 10-pin E-bus plug on one side and the 18-pole power connector on the other, keeping the wiring path short. Because the bus coupler terminates the EtherCAT segment internally, there is no need for an external terminator, simplifying the end-of-line layout.
