The 00.C6.A1-0100 bus coupler is manufactured by KEB within the C6 Combicontrol Bus Couplers series. It is installed at the edge of a modular I/O stack to connect the EtherCAT network to the local E-bus, allowing automation devices to be addressed through a single fieldbus node. The coupler processes master telegrams and distributes supply power to downstream modules. Its compact footprint makes it suitable for crowded control panels used in conveying, packaging, and general machinery. The modular format also allows compatible I/O terminals to be installed directly beside the coupler without separate network connections for each module.
The coupler communicates through EtherCAT at 100 Mbit/s and provides two RJ45 ports for line or ring topology without external switches. Frame processing is handled by the ET1100 ASIC, supporting cycle times in the submillisecond range. The primary electronics draw 195 mA from the internal E-bus, while the coupler can supply downstream modules with up to 3 A for connected sensors and actuators. Logic circuitry receives power from a 24 V DC supply with a -20% to +25% tolerance. An integrated monitor disconnects the bus if the input voltage falls below the 19.2 V undervoltage threshold. CAT5 cabling supports a segment length of up to 100 m between network nodes, providing flexibility when devices are distributed across a machine.
The housing measures 25 × 120 × 90 mm and clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail without additional brackets. Its IP20 ingress protection makes the coupler suitable for protected cabinets where natural airflow is available. Continuous operation is permitted within a temperature range of 0 to +55 °C, while storage is permitted from -25 to +70 °C. A two-pole plug provides the system power connection and simplifies field wiring inside the enclosure. The narrow housing conserves rail space beside drives, relays, and adjacent I/O modules. RJ45 access from the front allows network cables to be connected without removing nearby modules from the rail.
