The 00.C6-CB1-0500 bus coupler is produced by KEB for the C6 Combicontrol Bus Couplers series. This unit functions as the interface between a higher-level EtherCAT network and a block of distributed digital outputs inside a machine cabinet. By translating real-time fieldbus traffic into E-bus signals, it allows controllers to address compact terminal strips without separate wiring. The device is intended for DIN-rail installation in industrial automation panels where modular I/O expansion and fast cycle updates are required.
It communicates over the EtherCAT fieldbus at a maximum transport rate of 100 Mbit/s, ensuring deterministic exchange of process data with the controller. The coupler drives 16 digital output channels, and each channel is rated for up to 0.5 A, so actuators such as contactors or indicator lamps can be switched directly from the terminal strip. When all outputs are active, the module can supply a combined 8 A before an internal thermal fuse disconnects the outputs to protect downstream wiring. The outputs receive their supply through an 18-pole power connector, and an integrated termination module is not required. The housing measures 25 × 120 × 90 mm, which helps conserve cabinet depth during DIN-rail installation.
For system power, the bus side draws its logic supply from 24 VDC, and the internal E-bus draws only 130 mA from the backplane, so multiple couplers can share a single segment without overrunning the supply budget. Data and power distribution to adjacent I/O terminals proceeds through a 10-pin system plug, eliminating additional ribbon cables. The housing clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail and has a protection level of IP20, making the module suitable for closed control cabinets where finger-safe terminals are required. Because no dedicated termination module is necessary, a node string can end directly after this coupler without adding extra hardware.
