This coupler communicates over the EtherCAT network at a fixed line speed of 100 Mbit/s, and protocol handling is executed by the Beckhoff-designed ET1100 ASIC integrated on the board. The unit provides 32 opto-isolated digital inputs, letting a single slice capture a byte-wide conveyor encoder, multiple limit switches, or other discrete field signals.
