Product Description:
13.BR.100-6110 is a braking resistor. A braking resistor is a component used in various types of motor control systems, primarily in AC and DC drives, to dissipate excess energy when a motor is rapidly decelerating or stopping. The braking resistor serves to absorb the regenerative energy produced by the motor during deceleration, preventing damage to the motor control system and ensuring smooth operation. The 13.BR.100-6110 is designed for use with Combivert drives from KEB automation. When a motor connected to the drive decelerates or stops quickly, its energy is converted into electrical power, which is sent to the inverter or drive. If this power is not dissipated, it could cause the drive to trip due to overvoltage. The braking resistor is connected to the drive’s braking circuit and acts as a safety valve, allowing the excess energy to flow into the resistor, where it is turned into heat and safely dissipated.
The 13.BR.100-6110 braking resistor belongs to the 400 Volts class. Its resistance value is 110 Ohms. The rated power is 350 Watts and the peak power rating is 5 kilowatts. Its cdf, or ON time with respect to 120 seconds cycle time, is 6 seconds. KEB recommends using 14 AWG (2.5 mm2) wire for the terminal connections. KEB recommends using the resistor in environments where the ambient temperature is between -40 and 45 degrees Celsius. Height of the resistor is 400 millimeters, its width is 80 millimeters and its depth is 20 millimeters. The surface of the unit can get extremely hot during operation. Operators must ensure appropriate cooling to prevent overheating and equipment damage. The surface temperature must be monitored to prevent accidents.
