Product Description:
The FC102-202 is an AC variable-frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a controllable output for regulating fan and pump motors in building automation systems. This regulation provides precise airflow and water circulation while reducing energy demand in ventilation, cooling, and pumping applications.
The drive covers loads from 1.1 kW to 90 kW, allowing the platform to serve small booster pumps and large air-handling units. Its output frequency can be adjusted up to 590 Hz, providing flexibility when operating motors with nonstandard pole counts or derated high-speed impellers. At its optimal operating point, the unit reaches an electrical efficiency of 98%, minimizing cabinet heat rise and reducing the demand placed on cooling equipment. The input section accepts utility grids operating at 50/60 Hz without requiring hardware changes, which supports installation across locations with different supply frequencies. The electronics remain stable at ambient temperatures up to 131 °F, supporting operation in warm mechanical rooms and rooftop enclosures.
An enclosure option rated IP66 is available for washdown areas, while the IP20 variant is intended for protected panel installations. The input stage maintains a displacement power factor above 0.98, helping limit reactive current in upstream conductors. Control connections include 6 programmable digital inputs, two analog inputs, one analog output, and two programmable pulse inputs, with PNP or NPN logic available for each applicable channel. Two relay outputs, each rated for 2 A, can operate contactors or damper actuators directly from the drive. These input and output resources allow the FC102-202 to manage temperature, pressure, or flow loops without additional PLC hardware in suitable applications.
