The FC-102P5K5T2 is a variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. Positioned between the mains and an induction motor, it adjusts output frequency and voltage so air-handling units, pumps, and compressors run only as fast as the load demands. By matching motor speed to building requirements, the drive reduces energy consumption and mechanical wear in automated climate-control systems found in commercial and industrial facilities.
The power section accepts a line range of 200 – 240 VAC three-phase input and converts it to a variable output that can deliver up to 7.5 HP at the motor shaft. Nominal electrical capacity is 5.5 kW, while the rectifier draws 22 A and the inverter can supply 24.2 A continuously. Drive losses are limited, giving an overall efficiency of 0.96 under rated conditions. Two analog inputs, six digital inputs, two relay contacts, one analog output, and two digital or pulse outputs allow the controller to accept process signals and return run or fault status to the building management system. A dedicated 24 VDC terminal supplies 40 mA for sensor reference, and each transistor output can sink up to 40 mA.
For transient demand, the inverter withstands a one-minute overload of 26.6 A, providing extra torque during heavy fan starts or pump cleaning cycles. When connected to a 208 V feeder, the continuous apparent power rating is 8.7 kVA, aligning with standard low-voltage distribution transformers. An integrated 24 V auxiliary supply can source up to 200 mA for external transmitters or keypad power, eliminating the need for separate power packs. The drive operates on balanced three-phase lines, and its control electronics are galvanically isolated from the power stage to maintain signal integrity in electrically noisy mechanical rooms.
